My first runner up for books that I would save is George Orwell’s Animal Farm. I think that it would be important to keep any book that contradicts the old saying “Winners write history.” It is important for us to learn from our mistakes and to not be so ignorant. Thus with animal farm, it can show people the signs of power hungry leaders, corrupt governments, and horrendous truisms of them. Without this book being saved, we could fall into another regime ruled by leaders with no intent to keep the rights to the people. This is, of course, a more generalized summary on the theme of the book. I say this because we need to worry less about communism, and more about corrupt leaders. These are the things we need to watch out for if we ever want true freedom. My second runner up book is Che Guevara’s Guerrilla warfare. This book teaches the tactics that the guerrillas in the Cuban Revolution used. These consisted of ambushes, raids, and other unconventional warfare. The technique also uses the suprise and stealth of smaller bands of guerrillas who attack larger groups of the opposing army. Che Guevara was a leader of a group of guerrillas and wrote down his tactics to teach others how to battle guerrilla warfare. Yet, he also says that it should only be used against totalitarian governments. I believe this book should be kept, because it says why he used his tactics and what he was fighting for, which is more important than learning the art of war they used.
